Journey
Beast RSA, born Malusi Ndlovu in Durban, South Africa, grew up in the townships of KwaMashu and later Pinetown, where he was surrounded by the rhythms of kwaito, maskandi, and Afro house. He drew inspiration from local South African sounds and global hip-hop artists, and music, storytelling, and performance attracted him from a young age. These early experiences helped shape his creative identity.
He began his music career in 2012 with the independent mixtape Global Warming, which showcased his introspective lyrics and earned him recognition in Durban’s underground hip-hop scene. His 2015 single “Ithemba,” featuring gospel star S’fiso Ncwane, was a turning point. This track, which blended hopeful messages with hard-hitting urban beats, broadened his audience beyond local circles.
Over the next few years, Beast RSA’s style evolved to incorporate Gqom, amapiano, and Afro-pop, reflecting South Africa’s diverse music landscape. In 2019, he joined DJ Tira’s Afrotainment label, connecting with top producers and collaborators, which helped him gain national visibility. Key projects include the Mix Breed album (2021) and the i-Bite EP (2023), featuring artists and producers like DJ Exit, Phila Man Beats, Jr Emoew, and P-Man SA.
He has also collaborated on high-energy tracks such as “Bayathakatha” with Sphectacula, DJ Naves, and Sazified, and “Ngam’khetha” with Nomfundo Moh and NaXion Cross, showcasing his versatility across hip-hop and dance genres. Beast RSA continues to expand his musical reach with innovative releases, performances, and collaborations. He weaves genuine stories into the vibrant rhythms of South Africa, and he has built a reputation as a compelling artist within the country's urban music sphere, sparking inspiration in a new generation of fans.
