Banana Zorro, born Zahir Ally Zorro, is a Tanzanian singer and stage performer known for his work in rumba and Bongo Flava. Growing up in a musical family, he was introduced to performance at an early age through his father, Ally Zorro, who was an established musician in Tanzania. This environment provided him with early exposure to songwriting, rehearsal discipline, and live band performance.
He began his professional journey as a member of the group BloveM, where he recorded songs such as Anakudanganya and Big Boss with Masiga. These early releases introduced him to wider audiences and helped him build confidence as both a vocalist and composer.
In 2002, Banana Zorro released his debut solo album, Banana, marking a transition into an independent career. He followed this with his second album, Subra, in 2006. Across his catalog, he has released numerous songs, including Nimekuchagua Wewe, Mama Yangu, Hao Hao, Ninakuona, and Mapenzi ya Simu. His music often incorporates rumba rhythms alongside contemporary Tanzanian influences.
Throughout his career, he has performed with live bands such as InAfrika Band and later led his own performance group, B-Band. His presence in national competitions led to recognition at the 2010 Tanzania Music Awards, where he received honors in the Best Male Singer category.
