Born Roosevelt Saillant on 23 April 1975 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, BIC Tizon Dife is a Haitian singer, rapper, songwriter, poet, and composer known for socially conscious music in Haitian Creole. He began his career in 2000 with the hip-hop group Flex before forming BIC with John Mogène. The group released "Wow" (2005) and "Plus loin" (2008).
In 2010, Saillant launched his solo career and founded Tizon Dife Recordz. His music combines Haitian hip-hop, rap, folk influences and poetry, addressing themes such as Haitian identity, poverty, politics, education, human rights, relationships and civic responsibility. Albums including "Kreyòl chante, Kreyòl konprann" (2010), "Vokabi-Lari" (2016), "BICsyonè" (2019), "Été en hiver" (2023) and "Jibilan yon pawolye" (2025) have strengthened his reputation as a prominent Kreyòl lyricist.
Beyond music, BIC's writing has attracted academic interest, with his lyrics used in Haitian Creole educational materials and studied by researchers. He was a 2014 Institut français "Visas pour la Création" laureate and completed an artist residency at MIT in 2019.
He has also undertaken humanitarian work, serving as an ambassador for several organizations and as a UNICEF Haiti National Goodwill Ambassador from 2021 to 2023. His combination of music, poetry, language and social advocacy has made him a distinctive figure in Haitian popular culture.
