Journey
Raised in a Christian household in Côte d’Ivoire, where his father served as a pastor, music entered early through church activities that doubled as training ground and discipline. Piano, drums, and percussion became part of daily practice, supported by choir participation that strengthened musical understanding and structure. Those early years created a foundation that later separated Ariel Sheney from many peers entering the same space.
Professional exposure began around 2010 when he joined the orchestra of Côte d’Ivoire’s national broadcaster RTI as a pianist on televised productions. That role placed him inside a working production environment and expanded his network within the industry. During this period, he crossed paths with DJ Arafat, a central figure in coupé-décalé, opening the door to a more direct involvement in the movement.
Following political unrest after Côte d’Ivoire’s post-election crisis, a temporary move to Togo allowed continued work in arrangement and production through collaborations. On returning home, he became part of the Yorogang collective, contributing as a composer and arranger behind several projects while learning the structure of a fast-moving performance circuit led by one of the genre’s most influential camps.
His shift into recording work gained attention through releases such as "Kadigbeu," "Laisse-moi le Kplo," and "Falacha," which introduced his style to wider audiences. A separation from Yorogang later raised questions about continuity, yet subsequent releases like "Sympa" and "Amina" strengthened his standing and confirmed his ability to operate independently.
In 2019, AS Record was launched as a label aimed at developing new talent and expanding his role beyond performance into mentorship and production leadership. Recognition from industry awards such as Best New Revelation and Best Next Generation Artist further marked his place within the field.
A later legal case involving allegations tied to a widely publicized fraud investigation concluded in 2025 with an acquittal after courts found insufficient evidence. Outside professional matters, his relationship with Nadiya Sabeh drew public attention, and her passing in 2025 after illness brought a deeply personal moment into a demanding career journey.
