Sirach Charles, popularly known as Angel, is an English singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer born in Shepherd’s Bush, West London. He is of Grenadian and Caribbean heritage and grew up in a musically rich household, where his father, Tendai Charles, was a professional musician connected to the UK reggae circuit.
From an early age, Charles developed strong musical abilities, learning instruments such as piano, guitar, and drums. He began performing with his family in a group known as 'The Charles Family,' which toured extensively across the UK, performing in over 300 schools and community venues. This early exposure helped shape his performance skills and industry foundation.
He began his solo career in the late 2000s, signed with Island Records, and released his debut mixtape "Patience Is a Virtue" in 2010 which showcased his blend of R&B, hip-hop, and pop influences. His breakthrough came in 2012 with the single “Go In, Go Hard” featuring Wretch 32, followed by the commercially successful track “Wonderful”, which reached the UK Top 10 and topped the UK R&B chart.
Beyond his solo work, Angel gained recognition as a songwriter and producer, contributing to hits for artists such as Roll Deep, Pixie Lott, and Jason Derulo. His songwriting for “Green Light” by Roll Deep became a UK Number 1 single.
His debut album, "About Time," in 2013 established him as a versatile artist capable of blending soulful vocals with contemporary urban production. Over time, he has continued to evolve within the UK Afro-swing and R&B landscape, maintaining a reputation as both a performer and behind-the-scenes songwriter.
