Ajofé (born Adukwu Samuel Atadoga on September 9, 1989), is a Nigerian-American artist whose Afro-Groove sound defies conventional labels by fusing Afrobeats and hip-hop with personal narratives. Raised in Anyigba, Kogi State, Nigeria, Ajofé’s early fascination with sound was nurtured by his father’s work with the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation. This exposure inspired his exploration into the depths of music technology before songwriting called his passion. As a teenager, he was moved by artists like 2shotz and Biglo, whose styles prompted him to start writing his own lyrics and developing his voice. During his secondary school years, he recorded “Oh Boy Weytin?”, a notable 10-minute track showcasing his lyrical prowess. Currently based in the United States, Ajofé weaves themes of mental health, personal growth, and resilience into his music. His storytelling is layered with complexity, often reflecting his life’s challenges and triumphs. Beyond music, Ajofé is a dedicated husband, father, and IT enthusiast, channeling life experiences into a sound that defies the norms of traditional Afrobeats, encouraging listeners to engage deeply with his innovative style.
