His journey in music began while he was still in high school, when he won the Lowveld Pop Idols Music Competition in 2002, earning recognition as Mpumalanga’s Best Hip Hop Artist. AB Crazy initially developed his craft behind the scenes, producing and writing for notable artists including Teargas, HHP, Khuli Chana, Fifi Cooper, and Anatii, before stepping into the spotlight as a performer.
