Da Ohrions is a celebrated Ugandan musical comedy duo that captured the vibrant spirit of East Africa's entertainment scene in the late 2000s. The duo was formed by the innovative pairing of Steven "Stevo" Muzira, who performed under the persona Muwajuma, and his creative partner Abu Kyazze. Their music cleverly wove humor into catchy melodies, resulting in beloved tracks like "Ndayira," "Ondabira Maama," and "Muwajuma." Stevo's stage presence, characterized by his portrayal of an extravagant, middle-aged woman dressed in traditional Gomesi attire, encapsulated the group's ability to both entertain and engage with cultural norms. However, the journey wasn't without its setbacks. Stevo candidly revealed, in a 2023 interview, the immense personal toll of facing harassment from industry figures, which prompted a reevaluation of his path. In response, Da Ohrions shifted their focus towards empowering the next generation of Ugandan performers. Under Stevo's guidance, aspiring comedians such as MC Kapale, Ssenga Naddembe, MC Kasigazi Clerk Ssaku, and Dickey Dicky have honed their craft. Today, their contributions continue to resonate, marking Da Ohrions as stalwarts of Ugandan humor and mentorship, beloved for their songs and equally for their enduring influence.
