Journey

Lyta, born Opeyemi Babatunde Rahim, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter from Ajegunle, Lagos. With family roots in Kwara State, he developed an early interest in music through Ile Kewu, a music group connected to his local mosque. His professional career gained wider attention in 2018 after he joined YBNL Nation, the Nigerian record label founded by Olamide. Lyta's breakthrough came with “Time,” a 2018 single featuring Olamide. The release introduced him to a broader Nigerian audience and established his early presence within the Afrobeats and Nigerian pop space. He followed with recordings including “Selfmade” and “Do You,” before leaving YBNL Nation in 2019 following contractual and personal disagreements. Lyta subsequently signed with Doro Musik Gang, where he released “Monalisa,” produced by Killertunes. “Monalisa” became an important milestone in Lyta's career, particularly after Davido joined him on an official remix released in August 2019. The collaboration expanded his profile and placed him alongside established Nigerian artists during a formative period of his career. Lyta released his five-track debut EP, "Id," in 2019. He later became associated with Marlian Music, where his catalogue included collaborations such as “Are You Sure,” featuring Naira Marley, EMO Grae and Zinoleesky, and “Different Conversation Live 4” with Seyi Vibez. His subsequent catalogue includes the project "Rafat" (2022), "LEAK" (2024), and "Al-Awwal" (2025). Released on April 10, 2025, through Lyta/Azuri, "Al-Awwal" contains seven tracks and includes collaborations such as “Kowope” with Diamond Jimma. His later singles include “Confirm,” “One Chance,” “My Queen,” and “W (Winning).” Lyta's recorded repertoire places him primarily within Afrobeats and Nigerian pop, with songs addressing relationships, personal experiences, ambition, perseverance, and everyday life. His career has included associations with YBNL Nation, Doro Musik Gang, Marlian Music, and later Rafat Music/Azuri releases. He continues to release music and collaborate with artists across Nigeria's contemporary music industry.
